First Clergy Convert Conference Announced
The Coming Home Network is organizing its first-ever conference specifically for clergy converts. This event, held in partnership with the St. Paul Center for Biblical Theology, is scheduled for May 30–June 1 in Steubenville, Ohio.
The retreat is designed to foster fellowship among former non-Catholic pastors and ministers who have joined or are considering joining the Catholic Church. Its goal is to offer encouragement and help attendees reignite their passion for living and sharing the Gospel as Catholics.
Conference Speakers and Network Leadership
Featured speakers include Marcus Grodi, a former Presbyterian pastor who founded the Coming Home Network in 1993 and hosted EWTN’s “The Journey Home” program for many years. The network is now led by his son, JonMarc Grodi, who also hosts “The Journey Home.”
Emphasis on Pastoral Care
JonMarc Grodi highlighted that the network’s primary work involves pastoral care. A dedicated team, including former pastors like Ken Hensley, provides one-on-one support, building relationships with individuals exploring Catholicism. This support is crucial for clergy who often face losing their employment and income upon conversion. The network offers ongoing guidance even after individuals become Catholic, assisting with the transition and integration into their new identity.
Recent Growth and Future Intentions
The network has seen significant growth in interest. According to Matt Swaim, the director of outreach, 47 pastors have already reached out in the first part of 2025. In 2024, the network worked with 99 pastors, which was almost double the number assisted in 2022. The Coming Home Network hopes to make this new clergy convert conference an annual event.
